Women’s Health and Pelvic Floor Therapy
Located in Cambridge, Minnesota, we are here to empower, build confidence, and inspire women to reach their goals and live their best life. Our Women’s Health Specialists assess the ability for your pelvic floor to contract, relax and also provide education on alleviating pain of the pelvic floor and surrounding areas.
One of the most common issues women experience is bladder incontinence. Often these common issues arise after childbirth, as we age, or after other abdominal surgeries. Just because these issues are common does NOT mean they are normal! At Shift Physical Therapy and Wellness, we are passionate about helping you discuss and treat these sensitive issues in a private and comfortable setting. No doctor’s order needed. We have pursued specialized training to help you with the following:
Bladder incontinence (or involuntary loss of urine from the bladder) may happen to as many as 50% of women. Whether it is stress incontinence (urine leaking with an activity such as coughing, laughing, walking/running, or sneezing) or urge incontinence (urine leaking due to sudden urge to use the restroom), physical therapy can help gain control and build confidence to participate in your daily activities.
This condition is a separation of the abdominal wall that can occur after pregnancy, following abdominal surgery, or related to other body factors. Separation of the abdominal muscles can lead to a number of other issues including back pain if left untreated.
Women can experience pain of the pelvic floor muscles during daily activities or pain that interferes with sexual activity. Pelvic pain can also appear as low back pain or pain of the tailbone (coccyx). We will help to determine the cause of your pain to help improve your quality of life.
Conditions commonly associated with pelvic pain include Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), Endometriosis, and Pelvic Organ Prolapse.
The female body experiences rapid change during and after childbirth. Many women experience low back pain, SI joint pain, abdominal pain, or other muscular pain during and after childbirth. We are here to help you get back to feeling your best and support all your new life changes.
